January 2012: Changes at the AANP

By Terri Deerr, Chief Operating Officer

There have been many changes around the AANP office. Foremost of those changes is AANP staff.

Your newest staff member is Stephanie Geller, Membership Associate. A native to the D.C. area, Stephanie is a recent grad from the University of Colorado (Go Buffs!). Quite the traveler, Stephanie just returned from a year in Korea teaching English. You can reach Stephanie at member.services@naturopathic.org and she will be happy to assist you with any of your membership questions.

What Stephanie can’t answer, Mandisa Jones, Director - Membership & Marketing can. Mandisa has been with the AANP for just over a year and is turning this place into a well-oiled membership machine. Mandisa is taking the lead role in the AANP’s Thrive Kits Program – practice and professional development tool boxes for NDs at every level of their business experience. Mandisa continues to strengthen the AANP’s presence at the schools. If you have any questions or suggestions about membership benefits and offerings, contact Mandisa at mandisa.jones@naturopathic.org

Have a technical issue or want to promote ideas for our website, meet Thomas Jansen, Web Master and Content Associate. Not sure how we pulled this part-timer in to work with us but we are glad he is here. Thomas recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Architecture (and tons of computer-related experience). What does that mean for the AANP? Thomas has big plans for our member website and our new consumer website – from search engine optimization (so more patients can find us and an ND in their area) to great articles and information about naturopathic medicine. Reach Thomas at communications@naturopathic.org

Ensuring that all membership dues are collected, all bills are paid, and holding this place together with her enthusiasm and spirit is Shelly Nichols, Executive Administrator. Shelly comes to the AANP via the DC Public School system. A former teacher and student advocate, Shelly is sharing her understanding of complex issues and her compassion with the AANP. Have a financial question or problems with your monthly dues, contact Shelly at shelly.nichols@naturopathic.org.

Former State Representative, Gene McGill of Pennsylvania joined the AANP a year and a half ago. Acting as the Director- State Government Relations, Gene’s gift is that he simply gets the job done, regardless of the obstacles. Gene brings to us a rich history having served his constituents for six terms and representing various corporate interests before the legislative body, regulatory agencies and the Executive Branch. On the road, meeting with our state affiliates on licensing issues and scope expansions, Gene is tireless. See his State Legislative Update below. Gene can be reached at gene.mcgill@naturopathic.org.

We look forward to working with all of you. And, if there is some job description not here, it’s probably mine. Feel free to call me or reach me at terri.deerr@naturopathic.org
Happy New Year!
